Message from the High Commissioner, Catherine Muigai Mwangi
“Change of Guard”
Greetings to the Kenyan diaspora in the Republic of South Africa, the Kingdom of eSwatini and the kingdom of Lesotho. I would like to notify you of my taking over responsibility of the Kenya High Commission from my predecessor Amb Jean Kamau who served as the High Commissioner in the Mission from the year 2015. I know you join me in commending her for discharging her duties well in the period she served and express our gratitude to her for a job well done.
Prior to my deployment to Pretoria, I served as Kenya’s Ambassador to Kenya Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to African Union and IGAD.
Since my arrival on 15th January 2021, I am well settled and ready to discharge my duties accordingly. I look forward to engaging with the diaspora in the three countries of accreditation.
The Mission will continue to engage with the three countries of accreditation with a view to enhancing and promoting bilateral and multilateral relations and activities between Kenya and the three countries as well as international organizations that are mutually beneficial. The mission will also facilitate and promote trade and commerce between the three countries and Kenya in order to reduce the trade disparities as well as provision of relevant and comprehensive information for improving and developing trade, investment and tourism. In doing this we will focus on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government’s Big Four Agenda of Food Security, Affordable Housing, Manufacturing and Affordable Healthcare for all Kenyans. The Mission will also strive to strategically and effectively implement the Kenya Foreign Policy.
The mission will continue to provide consular services including authentication of documents as well as safeguarding the interests of Kenyans residing in the countries of accreditation. The mission continues to have an open-door policy and welcomes your inquiries on areas of interest.
I would like to assure you of upholding of the Mission’s values of:
– Professionalism and Dedication
– Team spirit & Collective Responsibility
– Integrity, Dignity and Responsibility
– Efficient and Effective quality service
– Equity and Discipline
I wish you a fruitful year and urge you to continue upholding unity among yourselves and support to one another as has always been. I look forward to mutual support between diaspora and the Mission.
CATHERINE MUIGAI MWANGI
