The High Commission of the Republic of Kenya in South Africa (Pretoria) continues to highlight achievements and key contributions made by Kenyans in the Diaspora. Below is a brief article in recognition of James Wanjohi.
March 2009

James Wanjohi is the first Head of The Branson School of Entrepreneurship, the first Institution world-wide that Sir Richard Branson (serial entrepreneur chair of the Virgin Group of Companies) has lent his name to. Wanjohi launched the South Africa Breweries entrepreneurship programme “Kick start” which he spent five years managing in South Africa as well as setting up similar programmes in Botswana, Tanzania, and more recently India and South America. James is co-authoring a book sponsored by the World Bank on the value of Social entrepreneurship, a case study on CIDA City Campus, South Africa.

James currently sits in on the World Bank Training Institute to advise on entrepreneurship curricula development for tertiary institutions.

Wanjohi received the Top30Under30: Best Entrepreneurs Under 30 award and recently has been identified as one of World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders.

Wanjohi holds an MBA in Finance and a Masters in Economics (Business economics) from Maharaja Sayajirao University in Vadodara; India.

Danny Day is a game designer and chief executive of QCF Design studio. He is passionate about game development in South Africa and hosts a local game development community http://www.gamedotdev.co.za Day hosts development competitions every 2 months and a monthly e-zine called Dev.Mag.

He believes there is a market for games with an underlying (not overt) educational purpose, known as ‘serious’ games, that take a different approach than did the failed ‘edu-tainment’ industry.
