The Kenya Humanitarian Fund (SA) hosted a fund raising dinner and a Golf day on 28th March 2008 at Killarney Country Club in Johannesburg. The purpose of the event was to sensitize the Kenyan community in the Diaspora, and other well wishers on the activities of the KHFSA, and to raise funds to address the urgent needs of the internally displaced persons in Kenya.
The group is currently disbursing the collected clothes among other tangiable donations. Paediatric, malaria and cholera drugs will be purchased in Kenya. Sanitary towels have also been identified as lacking essentials to the displaced females. A Kenyan delegation led by Kenyas’ High Commissioner to South Africa, H.E. Ambassador Tom Amolo, and the Agricultural Attaché Mr. Atika Ombachi together with delegates from the Ministry of Agriculture, Kenya, participated in the National Extension INDABA held in Eastern Cape Province.
This occassion was graced by the Minister for Agriculture & Land Affairs (South Africa) Hon. Lulama Xingwana and other senior Government representatives. |
